Pushkar

Brahma Mandir

Dating back to the 14th century, the Jagatpita Brahma Mandir in Pushkar is one of the very few temples in the world dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator. The temple is built of stone blocks and marble, recognizable by its bright red spire and the symbol of a hamsa (goose) at the entrance. Located near the sacred Pushkar Lake, devotees take a holy dip in one of the lake's 52 bathing ghats before offering prayers at the temple. The sacred town of Pushkar is filled with the scent of incense, rose petals, and chanting, making it a peaceful oasis of desert devotion.

Mount Abu

Dilwara Jain Temples

Nestled in the lush hills of Mount Abu, the Dilwara Jain Temples are internationally renowned for their marble carvings. Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, the temple complex consists of five uniquely styled structures dedicated to Jain Tirthankaras. While the exteriors are simple, the interiors feature fine marble work, with ceilings, pillars, and arches carved like delicate lace and flower clusters. The quiet halls and cool marble corridors offer a serene environment for meditation, representing a peak of medieval Indian stone craftsmanship.

Karni Mata Temple

A unique spiritual landmark near Bikaner, the Karni Mata Temple is home to over 25,000 black rats, known as 'Kabbas', which are protected and worshipped. Devotees believe these rats are the reincarnated children of Karni Mata, a female Hindu warrior sage of the Charan caste. The temple features a marble facade and solid silver gates donated by Maharaja Ganga Singh. Spotting a white rat among the thousands of rats is considered highly auspicious, and pilgrims walk carefully barefoot through the temple corridors to offer milk and grains to the animals.
