About Gujarat
Gujarat offers all that a national or international tourist looks for - a wide range of diverse destinations and attractions. In addition, strong logistic connectivity, excellent communication facilities, adequate health infrastructure, round the clock power supply even in the remotest area, safety and security and above all the hospitable nature of the people make Gujarat a prime destination in India. The varied landscape of Gujarat is a complete package in itself. Here, the White Desert of Kutch coexists with a long and beautiful coastline. The archaeological monuments from different eras go as far back as Harappan time in Dhola Veera and Lothal. Gujarat has ancient caves, stupas, monasteries, temples and monuments that exhibit the Indo-Sarcenic architectural style which blends elements of Islamic and Hindu architecture. The capital of Gujarat, Ahmedabad is India's first UNESCO accredited World Heritage City. Gujarat is also a delightful destination for the eco traveller. It is the abode of endangered wild life like the Asiatic Lion and Indian Wild Ass, not seen anywhere else in India. The state's living legacy is its rich heritage of handicraft skills that have thrived side by side with industrialisation. Embroidery, tie and dye, block printing, appliqué, beadwork, metalwork and many other tribal handicrafts are famous for their intricate design, colours and fine craftsmanship.

Dwarka
Standing on the banks of the Gomti River, the 2,500-year-old Dwarkadhish Temple (Jagat Mandir) is dedicated to Lord Krishna, worshipped here as the King of Dwarka. The five-storied limestone and sandstone structure is supported by 72 pillars, rising into a carved spire. A defining feature is the massive, 52-yard flag adorned with the sun and moon, which is replaced five times daily and visible from miles away. Entering through the Swarga Dwar (Gate of Heaven) and visiting the gold-adorned sanctum offers pilgrims a deep connection to the legends of Krishna's golden kingdom.

Saurashtra
Rising from the shores of the Arabian Sea in Saurashtra, the Somnath Temple is revered as the first among the twelve holy Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Known as the 'Shrine Eternal', the temple has been destroyed and rebuilt seven times throughout history, standing today as a symbol of resilience. The current structure is built in the grand Chalukya style, featuring detailed stone carvings, a majestic spire, and a famous arrow pillar (Baana Stambha) pointing directly to the South Pole. The evening sound and light show set against the roaring waves of the sea offers a dramatic spiritual experience.

Modhera
A masterpiece of the Solanki style of architecture, the 11th-century Sun Temple in Modhera is dedicated to the Sun God, Surya. Built near the Pushpavati River, the temple complex features three main parts: the assembly hall (Sabha Mandap), the inner sanctum (Garbhagriha), and the Surya Kund, a rectangular stepped water tank containing over a hundred small shrines. The temple was engineered so that during the equinoxes, the rising sun's rays would shine directly onto the gold image of the deity. The detailed stone carvings depicting deities, flora, fauna, and music make it a marvel of medieval craft.
